Higher ed faces many challenges today and in the years ahead. The cost of education keeps rising, budgets get tighter and security concerns and regulations increase. In addition, as with other industries, sustainability is a key component of future strategies as these institutions need to conserve energy in their operations and offer training in sustainable practices in their curriculum (as proposed in the Higher Education Sustainability Act-HESA of 2007). Manhattan provides its university clients the best tool for planning, managing and maintaining space which is critical to facilities which often are or will become historic and last for hundreds of years, far exceeding the private sector’s life cycles for commercial buildings.
Manhattan records the Facility Condition Index (FCI) and determines where capital investment should be applied. Universities are using Manhattan to also calculate the carbon footprint of each building to determine where energy programs need to be implemented and allowing FM departments to go “paperless” as they automate manual work processes with Manhattan applications.
Key higher education clients include: Harvard University, Tufts University, Rockefeller University and Northern Ireland Board of Education.
